Remember Hurley from the TV show Lost?
If you've never seen the show, he's the chubby guy. The comic relief man in the cast.
Well, I saw him last weekend…
Actually it wasn't him, but he could have been his twin.
So you won't be too surprised to hear that I spied him at an all you can eat Indian food buffet.
I typically avoid buffets like the plague unless I'm in Vegas. But I made an exception because my in laws were in town.
As I was sitting there deciding whether another plateful of food was worth the pain I'd be hit with later on, Hurley walked by.
And stuffed himself into a booth next to me.
I felt sympathy for the man because his stomach literally spilled over the table top once he'd settled in.
But that sympathy cooled a bit when I saw what was on his plate…
He'd loaded it down with about 10 deep fried samosas. With around 8 ounces of mango chutney on the side.
If you're not familiar with these foods, think deep fried Hot Pockets along with a pile of Smucker's jam and you've just about nailed it.
The sad part of this story is, you can eat fairly healthy at an Indian foood buffet…
Roasted chicken. Fresh fruit. The tastiest vegetables you'll find anywhere.
So you have to ask yourself, why is this guy making these bone crushing decisions?
If you think about it, he's not just risking another notch release on his belt...
We're talking ambulance rides. Emergency rooms. Heart surgery.
Even death!
The simple answer is, food addiction can be an extremely powerful thing.
Easily as addictive as nicotine. And every bit as deadly.
If you find yourself in this situation you already know what you need to do, right?
You need to make the commitment to save your own life.
It's as simple as that.
