Women and Testosterone
Women and Testosterone!Hi,
I'm a 45 year old woman who finds myself gaining weight which is very hard to get rid of with diet and exercise.
I've heard that testosterone can help you lose fat and increase muscle mass, as well as strengthen bones and increase sex drive.
Are there any safe natural supplements or dietary recommendations for women using testosterone?
I've been working on this problem for the last several months, as my wife, who is now in her 40's, has been dealing with some of the same issues.
I've put her on a supplement regime, and things are going well so far.
While most of her friends are going through the nightmares of bioidentical hormone replacement, she's keeping things natural. I recommend you do the same.
Not all of the supplements I recommend to the men on this site work well with women.
We're wired differently, so sometimes these herbs will not work at all.
Other times, they will have a negative impact. A good example is yohimbe.
In women, all this herb does is bring on a nasty caffeine like buzz.
On the other hand, some of these sex boosters work great in women.
Following are the ones I recommend....Passion Rx
This is a combination product that many women have had great success with.
Make sure you order the version without yohimbe.Maca Root
This herb has a powerful balancing effect on female hormones.
It's seems to be particularly effective in women going through perimenopause or outright menopause.Mucuna Pruriens
This herbs works great in women suffering from low energy, motivation, and sex drive.Rhodiola Rosea
On days when you're suffering from depression, sadness, and lack of energy try rhodiola.
It enhances mood, and relieves symptoms of PMS in many women. Ashwagandha
A calming relaxing herb, that also increases sex drive.
This is good supplement to take in the early afternoon, especially on days when you have plans with your partner in the evening.Tribulus Terrestris
This is a powerful sex booster that works well in men and women. This herb elevates luteinizing hormone in your system, which encourages your body to increase production of testosterone.
In men, this occurs in the leydig cells of the testicles.
In women, I assume this happens in the ovaries, but I haven't seen any studies to confirm this.
I do know that approximately 2 hours after my wife takes a dose, she experiences an increase in sex drive and libido.Finally...
If you do decide to go the supplement route, make sure you cycle them. Take each for one day only, then cycle on to next.
Fail to do this, and you'll build up a tolerance to the supplements, and they will completely stop working.
